Out Of The Game
Smooth, breezy and, oddly for Wainwright, led by some honky-tonk guitars, ‘Out Of The Game’ is taken from the upcoming seventh studio album of the same name, which the Canadian crooner has already pegged as his poppiest yet (this might have something to do with chart magician Mark Ronson twiddling the knobs). Wainwright’s ode to getting kinda old and not really understanding the appeal of YouTube (I’m paraphrasing, of course) may be a tad mellower than the chilling alt. pop we’ve grown accustomed to, but there’s still a hint of drama, inherited from fellow song-and-keys men like Freddie Mercury and Elton John.
