Irish singer Outsider has premiered his new single 'Míol Mór Mara’ with Hot Press today.
Sean Corcoran, aka Outsider, has made massive waves recently. Signing to Warner Records earlier this year, the Nenagh man's most recent single ‘Míol Mór Mara’ was included on the soundtrack to FIFA ’18 - the first time ever that the Irish language has been introduced to the video gaming world.
Once you hear the song, it’s instantly obvious why it was chosen - fast paced and energetic, it's ideal for running (or virtually running) to. With a punky drive and rushing gait, Bruce Springsteen or The War on Drugs are instant comparisons.
Resonant, reverberating vocals and compelling guitars are an extra added bonus, but perhaps the cherry on top is the meaning behind the song. ‘Míol Mór Mara’ translates as ‘Beasts of the Sea’ or ‘Sea Whales’ - the song references the biblical tale ‘Jonah and the Whale’ regularly - symbolic of ‘diving into the sea of the unknown and becoming something far greater than yourself in a spiritual sense’. Sean spent time working with a child with Down’s Syndrome whilst he himself was going through a tough time, and said the kids positivity inspired him and helped to pull him out of his troubles.
Outsider has also treated us to both a stunning and fitting video accompaniment. Following the journey of a lady disillusioned with her mundane life, we see her rebel, change her path and walk against the crowd to find fulfilment. Showcasing some of the breathtaking and almost wondrous land and seascapes of the Emerald Isle, it is beautifully shot and is at once symbolic and inspiring.

Having previously had music featured in Netflix’s Shadowhunters, Outsider seems to have hit the fast track to success.
