The company behind the smash hit Harry Potter And The Cursed Child stage show have optioned the Woman In The Making memoir.
US entertainment industry bible, Variety, has revealed that Playground Entertainment, a production company with offices in New York and London, is looking to turn Rory O'Neill's Panti: Woman In The Making memoir into a dramedy series.
“Rory is a genuinely unique voice, and we’re excited to be working with his alter-ego Panti Bliss on a series that will bring her provocative perspective on contemporary culture and the unspoken challenges that face the gay community to a mainstream television audience,” Playground CEO Colin Callender is quoted as saying.
The action will be set in and around Panti Bar on Dublin 1's Capel Street.
Playground have previously enjoyed theatrical success with Harry Potter And The Cursed Child and Nora Ephron's Lucky Guy, which starred Tom Hanks; the Dracula TV series featuring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and Starz series The Missing.
In the meantime, Panti is among those highlighting the recent abducting and killing of gay men in Chechnya.
