Paramore's new video for 'This Is Why' was directed by Brandan Yates.
US pop-rock band Paramore have announced their first album in five years, This Is Why, along with the release of the titular single and accompanying music video. This is their first release since the massively popular group's fifth studio album After Laughter in 2017.
After cryptically teasing a new era on social media, the trio made of Hayley Williams, Zac Farro and Taylor York finally announced the single on the 19th of September. Upon the single's release, they've shared the news that an album with the same name will be released on the 10th of February via Atlantic Records.
On the new single, Williams said, "'This Is Why' was the very last song we wrote for the album. To be honest, I was so tired of writing lyrics but Taylor convinced Zac and I both that we should work on this last idea. What came out of it was the title track for the whole album."
"It summarises the plethora of ridiculous emotions, the rollercoaster of being alive in 2022, having survived even just the last three or four years. You’d think after a global pandemic of fucking biblical proportions and the impending doom of a dying planet, that humans would have found it deep within themselves to be kinder or more empathetic or something," she continued.

The song was recorded in LA with Carlos de la Garza, producer of Paramore's self titled album and After Laughter. He also worked with Williams on her solo projects Petals for Amor and Flowers for Vases/ Descansos.
