The Anomaly Collective rapper was also on our 'Hot for 2020' list last year.
Waterford rapper Pat Lagoon has shared his first single of the new year. 'Habits' follows the young hip-hop artist's ecstatically received Box Room EP last April.
Over the last two years, Lagoon has crossed from Soundcloud obscurity to become a formidable force on the Irish music scene, with releases that shift effortlessly between hip-house, old school rap and trap.
The Hot Press Hot for 2020 artist says that the new track was penned during the second lockdown in Ireland.
"It’s not easy being an artist stuck inside, not experiencing live shows, not getting to perform or
meet up regularly with peers to be creative and talk about plans," he explains. "2020 has been a whirlwind but
there were a lot of life lessons learned and plenty of self-analyzing done, too."
Production on 'Habits' comes from fellow Anomaly Collective member LHK, and Wavkill. "[They] did a fantastic job on the production and really allowed me to venture into a style that I have been enjoying recently with a heavy bassline and synths that nearly mimic that Bay Area sound," Lagoon said via statement.

"Habits is the first song I actually managed to finish writing in lockdown after being caught in a bit of a drought. I feel it’s me at my most vulnerable and allows the listeners in to feel the same way I’m feeling since being in lockdown. Repetitiveness, frustration, anxiety and lots of more emotions just bottling up but we have to keep it moving to persevere."
