Singer and activist Patti Smith has announced a new memoir, Bread of Angels, set for release on November 6.
The book will explore her childhood in working class areas of Philadelphia and South Jersey, her marriage to MC5 guitarist Fred 'Sonic' Smith, raising a family in Michigan and more.
"It took a decade to write this book, grappling with the beauty and sorrow of a lifetime," Smith said. "I'm hoping that people will find something they need."
The musician won the 2010 National Book award for her previous memoir, Just Kids, which detailed her relationship with her late friend, former partner and photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. American television network Showtime acquired the rights to adapt Just Kids in 2015.

Bread of Angels will be published by Random house and its release will coincide with the anniversary of Fred Smith's death and Mapplethorpe's birthday.
Smith will embark on a tour later this year across Europe and the US to celebrate the 50th anniversary of her debut studio album Horses.
The tour will see her perform 33 shows, including a gig at Dublin's 3Arena on October 6.
