The Pattie Boyd Collection includes private letters from former husbands George Harrison and Eric Clapton.
Fashion model and rock muse Pattie Boyd has sold her collection of personal memorabilia, entitled The Pattie Boyd Collection, at auction for nearly €3.5 million. Among the items for sale were a series of letters from Boyd’s time in a “love triangle” with rock legends George Harrison and Eric Clapton, along with photos, artwork, dresses and more.
Boyd first met Harrison on the 1964 film set of A Hard Day’s Night, marrying the guitarist two years later. By 1977 the pair had divorce, and Boyd went on to marry Clapton in 1979, a marriage that lasted into the late 1980’s.

The inspiration behind classic hits like Harrison’s ‘Something’ and Clapton’s ‘Layla,’ Boyd’s collection was led by the original artwork for Clapton’s cover of the Derek and the Dominos album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. Estimated to fetch around €60,000, the artwork was ultimately sold for €2.3 million after an intense bidding process.
“I am completely blown away by the enthusiasm of international bidders for these special treasures that I have always loved,” said Boyd of the sale. “I am so happy that new hearts will now enjoy them, as they enter into their next ‘chapters’.”
Other items in the collection were met with a similar reception, including a 1971 love letter from Clapton, written on a page torn from John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, which was sold for over ten times its estimated value.
