Already praised by best-selling authors like Joseph O’Connor as “a wonderfully enjoyable memoir”, and John Connolly as “a very fine piece of work”, the memoir is now available in bookshops nationwide and via hotpress.com/shop.
Published by Hot Press Books, Paul Charles’ Adventures in Wonderland has landed on bookshop shelves today.
Charles' memoir tells the tale of how a music-mad youngster from Magherafelt in Co. Derry was swept up in the whirlwind that was rock ’n’ roll in the heady days of the 1960s’ music revolution, where he moved to London – and went on to become one of the most influential music figures ever to come out of Ireland; and to work, and become friends, with many of his rock and roll idols.
Over the past 40 years, Charles has worked with the likes of Van Morrison, Ray Davies of The Kinks, Gerry Rafferty, The Waterboys and Dexys Midnight Runners, during the course of his career, and launched teen Tanita Tikaram to international stardom.
Speaking on his memoir, Charles has said, “I hope readers of Adventures in Wonderland will also recognise how much I have enjoyed being involved in so many different aspects of music – and working closely with artists of outstanding creative ability. It has been an incredible privilege – and wonderfully exciting. So far!"
Best-selling author John Connolly also chimed in on the music figure’s book, stating, “A book defined by an abiding love of music, a deep affection for musicians – despite their occasional follies – and a clear-eyed view of the sometimes harsh realities of the music business.”

“This may well be the best memoir of its kind yet to come out of Ireland. A very fine piece of work, and I enjoyed every minute of it,” the author continued.
Paul Charles is also due to appear at the International Literature Festival Dublin on May 26th at 8pm, at Merrion Square Park, where he will be joined by singers Brian Kennedy and Saibh Skelly and by Hot Press editor, Niall Stokes.
