'McCartney III: Reimagined' will be released digitally on April 16th via Capitol Records, with a physical release arriving later in the summer.
The Beatles legend Paul McCartney has announced a new, revitalised version of his latest album McCartney III featuring the likes of St. Vincent, Phoebe Bridgers, Damon Albarn, Beck, Josh Homme, and many others.
As a preview of McCartney III: Reimagined, McCartney has shared Dominic Fike’s cover of 'The Kiss of Venus' - turning the track from a smooth acoustic ballad to the ultimate R&B hit.
McCartney began dropping hints about the project on Instagram earlier this week, posting a short video of coloured dice with various artist’s names on them.
Also included on the musician's list of collaborators are Khruangbin, 3D of Massive Attack, Ed O’Brien of Radiohead, Dominic Fike, Blood Orange, Anderson .Paak, and even actor Idris Elba. Each artist has been tasked with covering and/or reimagining a particular track from the No. 1 album McCartney III.
“I’m lucky, I have a friend who sends me new music which helps me keep in touch with the modern scene,” McCartney recently said during the Reddit Q&A, when asked about his tastes.

“So I listen to people like Dominic Fike, Beck, St. Vincent and Khruangbin. I also listen to a lot of classic oldies coming through, from rock ‘n’ roll to ’60s to soul to R&B, with a sprinkling of classical music now and then.”
Released in December 2020, McCartney III is McCartney’s 18th solo album to date and serves as a sequel to 1970’s McCartney and 1980’s McCartney II. The Beatles bassist had no plans to release a record in 2020, but found himself jotting down musical sketches and recording spontaneous songs that naturally turned into an album during the COVID-19 quarantine. McCartney handled the songwriting, performing, recording, and producing entirely by himself.
The visual for 'The Kiss of Venus' shows Fike as a New York City businessman questioning the words and stories found in our everyday news cycle. Ultimately, the video is a creative call to action to doubt what you read in the media. McCartney has a cameo in the visual, appearing at the end of the video peacefully reading The New York Times in a quiet park.
