The band follows up their 2020 album Gigaton with a new, 'heavier' record.
Pearl Jam have announced that their twelfth studio album Dark Matter will be released on 19 April 2024 via Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records. Alongside the announcement, the band has dropped the LP’s title track, which can be streamed below.
In a new collaboration, GRAMMY award-winnning Andrew Watt oversaw production, with lead guitarist Mike McCready hinting at heavier material.
"We have a bunch of songs tracked,” McCready said in an interview with Classic Rock. “We worked with Andrew Watt, who’s a younger pop producer-type guy, but he’s really a rock guy at heart — I think we’re his favorite band. When we were in the studio with him this past year, he really kicked our asses, got us focused and playing, song after song.”
Watt's previous production credits include Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Lana Del Rey and Ozzy Osbourne.
