The single comes ahead of the bands tour, which begins January 22.
Cork shoegaze band Pebbledash release their latest single ‘Slowly Slowly’ off their debut EP Four Portraits of the Same Ugly House– out January 31.
The EP was produced by Aidan O'Mahoney of Kitten Lane Studios and mastered by Pete Maher. Listeners may know Maher’s work through his past collaborations with U2, Nick Cave and The Pixies. Pebbledash recorded their latest release in complete darkness, aiming to capture the feelings of solitude and isolation.
“‘Slowly Slowly’ jumps between catharsis and longing,” said the band. “It is our statement of the 'beautiful ugly,' the things you want but know you shouldn't and the heartbreak when things don't happen like how you dream, and I guess this is us saying it's fine to be selfish sometimes about these kinds of things.”
Pebbledash blend shoegaze with elements of dream pop and traditional Irish music. Their time spent in Cork City inspired the title for their EP, which they refer to as the “Ugly House.”
“Encased in this small city I found myself becoming familiar with its places and people, and these four songs are the portraits of the most impactful moments and feelings,” said the band in a statement. “Although many of the songs were started in Cork, they were finished when I had to move away for a significant period of time, and this feeling of missing friends and spaces I had come to love informed the melancholy of the EP.”
