Perfume Genius also hinted that he might further develop the idea behind the cover.
Perfume Genius, the chosen moniker of Mike Hadreas, has released an ultra-slow version of the disco classic 'I Will Survive'.
The cover was recorded at home for a commercial pitch and shared with fans through his newsletter. Perfume Genius described the cover as, “a little deathbed-y. I was very serious that day, but I like how it turned out, in particular the last moment. I might stretch that into something new.”
Perfume Genius is known for his experimentation with sound. In March he released the hyper-pop infused Immediately Remixes, with features from PC Music favourites A. G. Cook and Danny L. Harle amongst others. He covered the cinematic dream-like Richard Youngs’ 'A Fullness of Light in Your Soul' with the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble in June.
Perfume Genius is set to embark on a North American tour this coming autumn for his 2020 album Set My heart On Fire Immediately. He is playing several dates with Hand Habits, as a feature artist on their upcoming album, in addition to supporting Tame Impala.
