He's bringing his new band, The Puta Madres, with him!
Pete Doherty has announced respective May 3 and 4 visits to the Belfast Limelight and Dublin Academy with his new outfit The Puta Madres, which translates either as an insult (‘Mother Fucker’) or a compliment “(Holy Shit’) depending on whether or not there’s the article ‘la’’ in front of it in Spanish.
Ahead of that comes the April 26 release of their eponymous album, which has already been teased with the excellent ‘Who’s Been Having You Over’. The accompanying video is directed by long-time collaborator Roger Sargent.
It’s part of an ‘EU tour’, which suggests Pete reckons/hopes that the North will still be part of the European family post-March 29.
The pre-sale bundles available from albionrooms.com include playing cards, lyric sheets, high-art prints and a ‘making of’ film.
While eschewing the term ‘side-project’, Mr. D has made it known that he remains a fully paid-up member of The Libertines who tentatively have an album of their own planned for 2020.
Scarily, it’s ten years since Pete was made an Honorary Patron of the Trinity College Philosophical Society, with our man Stuart Clark hosting the event and a Hot Press cover story ensuing, which we'll be posting later.
We have to say it's nice to be talking about Pete Doherty again for the right reasons!
