Genesis frontman Peter Gabriel announces release date for his 12-track LP i/o
At the end of a year in which Peter Gabriel has released a new song on the occasion of every full moon, i/o, Gabriel's first LP of original material in over 20 years will be released.
i/o is billed for a December 1st 2023 release and has been described 12 tracks of 'grace, gravity and great beauty'.
Recorded both at Real World Studios and Gabriel's own home studio, the lengthy gestation of i/o means it has a sizeable cast list.
The prolific singer songwriter has taken his time in the making of i/o, with 2023 a busy year for the former Genesis front man having performed a major world tour with American and Europe dates including a summer show in July of 2023 in a 'mammoth gig' at the 3arena.
Gabriel has enrolled the help of his trusty inner circle of musicians close to hand, which means guitarist David Rhodes, bassist Tony Levin and drummer Manu Katché are sterling presences throughout.
The record does not only feature musicians close to the singer however, Gabriel has also brought in collaborations with a long list of musicians including Irish talent Ríoghnach Connolly of The Breath, Soweto Gospel Choir, Swedish all-male choir Oprhei Drängar and the New Blood Orchestra, led by John Metcalfe.
