The New Order and Joy Division founder has announced three Irish headliners to take play in November next year.
Peter Hook and the Light have announced a mammoth run of dates for 2024 taking in full tours of Australia and New Zealand, North America and the UK and of course, a few dates in Ireland too.
The former Joy Division and New Order musician is set to play Dublin's 3Olympia theatre, Leisureland Galway and Belfast's Telegraph Building in November 2024.
The world tour will see the band play the Substance albums by Joy Division and New Order in full.
The Substance albums released in 1987 and 1988, are a duo of singles compilation albums, with the 1987 issue released by New Order and the 1988 one by Joy Division (although recorded much earlier).
The albums both contain compilations of both bands' singles. You might think Hook is tired of playing the celebrated hits of the influential post punk band and its alternative dance follow up.

In fact, it's quite the opposite affair with the bassist saying, "It still amazes me how enjoyable it is to play the Substance LPs. The contrast between Joy Division and New Order is very apparent but both complement each other very well. My only frustration is not being able to play more of our records each night".
In an Instagram post today, Hook posted a setlist for his recent Brussels gig, which gives fans a taste of what to expect on his Substance World Tour with the setlist dedicated entirely to New Order in the first half and Joy Division in the second half.

Peter Hook first revisited the seminal Joy Division album Unknown Pleasures back in May 2010 for a commemorative charity concert and has followed it each year by performing subsequent albums from the repertoire of his bands, Joy Division and New Order.
Peter Hook & the Light since moved through each of those albums, culminating in the Factory Records Substance compilations, and recently celebrated over four decades of the continuing influence of Joy Division and Ian Curtis with the Joy Division: A Celebration concerts where both of the band’s albums were played in full.
In October this year, the band then played the Substance albums at the biggest ever London concert at the 5300 capacity Eventim Apollo.

Peter Hook’s dedication to his back catalogue has seen him move through Unknown Pleasures, Closer, Still, Movement, Power Corruption & Lies, Low Life, Brotherhood, Technique and Republic to arrive at the Substance Tour.
Having toured these albums extensively, the band have now amassed over 600 concerts.
