Indie-rock star Phoebe Bridgers will perform in Dublin this summer.
Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers has announced a highly anticipated date at Fairview Park this summer, much to the delight of her Irish fanbase. The Californian musician will perform at the Dublin outdoor venue on June 20th with tickets (€49.90) going on sale this Friday, March 11 at 10am.
Bridgers' debut studio album, Stranger in the Alps, was released in 2017 to critical acclaim.
In addition to her solo work, Bridgers is also a member of the musical groups boygenius (with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus) and Better Oblivion Community Center (with Conor Oberst). In January 2017, Bridgers released 'Smoke Signals' as a single and opened for Oberst on his European tour before signing to Dead Oceans in June of that year.
“It’s surreal until you talk to them,” she told Hot Press in 2020, laughing. “And then you’re like, ‘Oh my god, you guys are just bros!’ Conor will tell some stupid joke that a 12-year-old boy would tell, and I’m like, ‘Wow – the voice of a generation!’ He’s the poet that defined us all, and he’s there making fart noises into the microphone. Matty Healy’s like that too. I really mesh with people I’m a huge fan of. I can sing any Bright Eyes song, and any 1975 song, so of course I can be of use! I can mirror the ways they’ve influenced me in my music.”
Bridgers has been referred to as a "serial collaborator" and has either been featured on or co-released tracks with Lord Huron, Fiona Apple, Matt Berninger and The National, Manchester Orchestra, The 1975, Maggie Rogers, Kid Cudi, and Taylor Swift, among others, in addition to full-album projects with Conor Oberst, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus.

In April 2020, Bridgers released 'Kyoto' and announced on Instagram that her second album Punisher would be released on June 19, 2020. Bridgers released the album a day earlier than stated, stating, "I'm not delaying the record until things go back to 'normal' because I don't think they should. Here it is a little early."
Reviewing the album at the time, Hot Press' Lucy O'Toole wrote: "‘The voice of a generation’ is a term that gets bandied about too often – but there’s no denying Phoebe Bridgers’ remarkable ability to capture the intricacies of the millennial experience in 2020. Three years, and two supergroups, after the release of her ecstatically received solo debut Stranger In The Alps, the Californian singer-songwriter has returned with Punisher – an expectation-defying album that finds her exploring the grey areas between hope and despair, humour and gloom, love and heartbreak, and hedonism and regret."
Bridgers garnered four nominations at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards for Best New Artist, Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Alternative Music Album. In December 2020, she released a music video for the song 'Savior Complex', directed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and starring Paul Mescal.
Last December, the indie rocker unveiled her third cover single of the year: 'Day After Tomorrow' by Tom Waits. All proceeds from the release went to the Local Integration & Family Empowerment Division of the International Institute of Los Angeles, a group that supports immigrants, refugees, and low-income workers in the city.
“I feel like I’m in a different position in my career than I was five years ago,” she reflected, speaking to Hot Press two years ago. “I’m sheltered from a lot of toxic people, because they think I’m too powerful now. I don’t think as many people would say something offensive, or creep on me, or second-guess me now. The darkest thing is that when I was a teenager and in my early 20s, people thought they could say whatever they wanted to me, or do anything, and it wouldn’t have any consequences. So who knows if the world is wising up? Because I wouldn’t know. But I hope in some ways it’s becoming normalised to talk about that shit, because it certainly wasn’t before."
