Having snaffled three categories in the Hot Press Readers Poll, tonight was another significant one in the rise of Picture This to international stardom, when the took the Song of the Year title at the Choice event in Vicar Street.
Picture This are the first of the big winners at tonight’s Choice Music Prize. The band from Athy, who have been breaking records in all sorts of ways over the past year, took the Song of the Year gong with ‘One Drink’. They came in ahead of some serious competition, in the form of Niall Horan’s ‘On The Loose’, Hozier’s ’Nina Cried Power’, Gavin James’ ‘Always’, Laoise’s ‘Again’, Mango x Mathman’s ‘Lord Hear Us’, Fontaines DC’s ’Too Real’, Pillow Queens ‘Gay Girls’, Saint Sister’s ‘Causing Trouble’ and Wild Youth’s ‘Can’t Move On’.,
Picture This have just swept three of the most important categories in the Hot Press Readers’ Poll, aka The Hotties, taking Best Group, Best Live Group and Track of the Year, the latter with ‘When We Were Young'. The band have achieved the remarkable feat of selling out five nights on the trot at 3Arena, gigs which are due to take place from Wednesday 27 March to 31 March.
Picture This were formed by Ryan Hennessy and Jimmy Rainsford, who have since been joined in the line-up by Owen Cardiff and Cliff Deane. ‘When We Were Young’ was released in 2018, as was ‘One Drink’ – the first official single from the Morn Lv album. ‘Everything or Nothing’ proved to be a bigger hit, reaching No.7 in the Irish charts.

Picture This have begun to break through internationally, with the band beginning their European tour in Denmark tonight. Dates follow in Germany, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands, before they return to Germany. They then travel to France, and on the the UK before their return to Dublin – to end this phase of what promises to be a triumphant your.
