Picture This share details from their album launch in New York City.
Yes, the wait is finally over. The moment's finally here. The cat's out of the bag. Picture This' eagerly-awaited second album, MDRN LV, has hit shelves and streaming sites across the world today, February 15.
A soaring, stadium-sized album, MDRN LV cements Picture This' place as Ireland's band-of-the-moment, and marks them as major contenders for being one of the biggest acts in the world in the near future.
And for anyone who's been living under a rock these last few days, the Athy band launched their new album at a special event at the top of the Empire State Building on Wednesday afternoon.
Following this performance, we had the chance to ask the band a few questions about their time in America and what it felt like performing atop one of the most iconic buildings in the world.
Hot Press: Can you talk us through the day?

We started the day quite early. We went through soundcheck in the Empire State Building and then we just prepped for the show. It was a crazy day, and it was quite an emotional moment being at the top of the Empire State Building and playing your songs from that viewpoint. It really was quite a moment.
What were the preparations for the performance?
The preparations involved a lot of communication between everyone who was Ireland and New York, as well as the record label. There was a lot of organising to be done and all the behind-the-scenes team did it really well. So the preparations were stressful and tough but it was flawless in the end.
How has New York treated you?
New York’s treated us very well. It’s always a city that we love coming to. It actually has a great place in our heart because we got signed in New York on the first ever trip that we came here. The first time we’d ever been to New York – all of us – we got signed right here, so it holds a lot of weight in our career.
What else have you been doing during your time in America?

We’ve been doing loads actually. We’ve done The Today Show, we’ve done the AOL Build Series, Billboard takeover, and lots of other interviews. Then we were also in LA at the Grammys. So it’s been an absolutely insane week, on the back of an insane couple of weeks. We’ve done so many things recently which have been career highlights for us.
How does it feel to be performing at one of the most iconic buildings in the world?
It feels amazing to be in such an iconic place, for sure. We had a moment today, playing our songs, looking out over New York, thinking that it can’t really get any bigger than this, in terms of how iconic this location is. It was such an emotional feeling that I was literally thinking about us back in Athy, when we younger, starting the idea of this band, and thinking of where we are now. There’s been so many there for us. So many people who believe in us. And it’s just…it’s an amazing feeling.
Which songs did you perform?
So from the new album, we performed ‘If You Wanna Be Loved’, ‘Everything or Nothing’, ‘One Drink’, and ‘Magnet’, which we’d never performed before. And we also played ‘Take My Hand’ from our first album. Then we performed ‘One Drink’ on the roof as well. We went up to the very top, out on the outdoor balcony, and played there as well. It was amazing to be able to perform some of those new songs.
What else have you been doing in New York City?
We’ve done Today Show and AOL and our interviews, but this is kind of it all wrapped up now. We get to relax and enjoy the release of the album now and take it all in. It’s been a great trip for us, and magic always seems to happen when we’re out in America, so we’ve had a great time.
