Take a look at the video for 'Be By Your Side' below.
Following their signing to Royal Mountain Records in 2021, Pillow Queens have announced that their highly anticipated second album, Leave The Light On, is set to be released on April 1. To coincide with the news, they've shared the first single from the LP, 'Be By Your Side' – as well as an accompanying music video.
The Dublin-based band released their Choice Prize-nominated debut album, In Waiting, in September 2020. The project was described by Tanis Smither as "a distinctive, original and quietly brilliant debut", in her review for Hot Press.
Commenting on the new single, singer/bassist Pamela Connolly says it's "about the mechanisms that are used to hide your vulnerabilities and carry on."
"But also, the feeling of being about to burst and how cathartic it could be to allow yourself to let your emotions out and feel the world around you," Pamela resumes. "This was one of the first songs we finished on the album as it was the quickest to become fully realised by all of us."
Leave the Light On is described as "an exploration of the uncertainty of emotions as they are in process, and an intuitive outpouring of ideas as they form. It’s about being intimately honest with yourself, and as a band. It’s about trusting that this state of vulnerability can be held as it emerges, by you, by us."
