The first collaboration between Harvey and Colm Bairéad, the Dublin filmmaker is best known for writing and directing his first feature film The Quiet Girl, which was nominated for Best International Feature Film at the 95th Oscars.
PJ Harvey and actor Ruth Wilson have collaborated on a new video for Harvey’s latest single, 'Seem an I,' created by Oscar-nominated Irish screenwriter and director, Colm Bairéad.
Bairéad is perhaps best known for directing and writing An Cailín Ciúin (The Quiet Girl), which earned him an Academy Award nod for 'Best International Feature Film.'
The video for the track which features on Harvey's recent studio album, I Inside the Old Year Dying, was shot at Kennel Farm outside Salisbury, Wiltshire. Starring English actress Ruth Wilson (Jane Eyre, Luther), 'Seem an I' sees Wilson cathartically running across thistles and fields under overcast skies, fitting imagery for Harvey's sonic gloom.
“Ruth and I became friends after working together on Clio Barnard’s film ‘Dark River’,' Harvey says of the video's star. "I have always greatly admired Ruth’s work as an actor, so had long harboured a dream that we might work together again in some way."

On working with Bairéad, the 'Down by the Water' songstress said: "When the opportunity to work with Colm Bairéad came up I knew him to be a director Ruth thought highly of, as I did, so it felt right to ask her if she would star in the film. I find the resulting short film beautiful and moving for having Ruth’s magical presence, and Colm’s unique vision."
