The two songs, 'Descending' and 'The Moth', come from the play's soundtrack to be released 12th April.
PJ Harvey has lent her songwriting prowess to the score of current West End production All About Eve. Based on the classic Hollywood film of the same name, the play stars Gillian Anderson and Lily James, and is directed by Ivo van Hove.
On the soundtrack, Harvey worked with jazz musician and longtime collaborator Kenrick Rowe, as well as Gallon Drunk frontman James Johnston, with whom she previously recorded the soundtrack to Franz Xaver Kroetz’s play The Nest in 2016.
Lily James provides vocals on 'The Moth', while second track 'Descending' is an instrumental piece. Gillian Anderson's vocals will be featured on album track 'The Sandman'.
PJ Harvey's last studio release was her confrontational 2016 album The Hope Six Demolition Project. Documentary A Dog Called Money, which follows her songwriting process on the album and her travels in Afghanistan, Kosovo and Washington DC , premiered this past winter at Berlinale. The film was directed by award-winning Irish photographer Seamus Murphy.
All About Eve is currently in the middle of its run at London’s Noël Coward Theatre. The soundtrack will be released on 12th April, and can be pre-ordered now.
