Following the release of 'Heavenly Tones' earlier this year, Post Punk Podge has returned with the music video for his haunting new single, 'Generation Xanax', featuring DJ Bleak Stack. The track sees the Limerick performer taking a fearless stance against the rise of Xanax addiction in his community.
Tipped as one of our Hot for 2019 Irish Acts, Post Punk Podge and The Technohippies have built up an impressive following on the back of their socially conscious content, combining Podge's trad fiddle background with raucous DIY beats. February saw the release of their Post Millennium Tension EP, self-described as "a call to arms and a call to the dancefloor against the hypocrisy and mundanity of modern life."
According to The Technohippies' Dr. Asparagus Montague, who runs Podge's Twitter page, you can also expect a new mixtape coming soon:
Oh, and the mixtape is now into the mixing stage at long last, so shouldn’t be long, pretty different from the rest of the other stuff, not that that says anything tbh

With an eery violin intro leading into an industrial rock-inspired beat, 'Generation Xanax' sees the Limerick artist presenting some of his most cutting bars yet: "Fake Xan man, he's a dealer with a plan/Benzo coated relief, two fifty each/ Fentanyl kills you quicker than the syringe."

However, Podge, who recently spoke about his mental health struggles as part of our Now We're Talking campaign, also offers a sense of hope: "Break the cycle with a crow bar before you go too far/ You are not your illness, you are not your mind."
