Powers Of Miami (Live film)
At only one minute 46 seconds long, it’s pretty remarkable that this jerky montage of money moments from Le Galaxie’s mammoth set at Electric Picnic does the band’s performance justice. The good people at Huglyfe Media, namely Killian Broderick and Mark Duggan, are the people to thank, and for turning a thing of sweaty madness into a thing of sweaty grace, we doff our collective caps to them. Soundtracked by ‘Powers Of Miami’ from Le Galaxie’s head-spinning debut LP Laserdisc Nights II, this clip includes such visual treats as Michael Pope climbing the scaffolding (he later got a nasty telling off) and the minute when dozens of custom-made ‘Tune’ signs fell delicately on the faces of some bemused, but ecstatic punters. If this fine display of pomp and energy doesn’t impress you, I’m afraid nothing will. Remember, this heaving bit of electronic lunacy was filmed at 1.30pm in the day.
