Watch the highly anticipated new video from Dara Quilty's acclaimed band below.
Following the release of their acclaimed debut album, 1963, earlier this year – which has clocked up a whopping 500,000 streams to date – Apella have returned with a high-energy new music video for one of the project's standout tracks, 'Buried You', directed by Ray Keogh.
“I have been part of the Apella journey since inception and this music video captures everything they represent," Ray comments. "[Dara] Quilty and [Ronan] Nolan are two extraordinarily talented performers. We set it up and executed this video just like we were headlining a music festival! This is Apella. I am incredibly proud of this.”
Since bursting onto the Irish music scene in 2016 with their radio hit 'We Met At A Party', Apella have established themselves as one of the most promising indie-pop acts in the country – opening for Twenty One Pilots, and appearing at all the major Irish music festivals, including Electric Picnic, Indiependence, Castlepalooza and Sea Sessions. Their success also took them on tours of the UK, with Keywest and Don Broco.
In 2019, shortly after winning Music and Entertainment Broadcaster of Year at the IMRO Radio Awards, as well as Music Programme of the Year, frontman Dara Quilty moved to New York City to focus on his music career.
This period saw him playing in iconic New York venues like Rockwood Music Hall, Bitter End, Pete’s Candy Store and many more. As the pandemic brought the music industry to a grinding halt, Dara completed his work on 1963 at Empire Underground Studios in Brooklyn.
Named after the birth year of his mother, 1963 is an incredibly personal record from Dara, who has teamed up with The Marie Keating Foundation.

"The response to the album on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube has been overwhelming," he says. "I still enjoy opening up my phone and simply seeing it exist in the world. As I mentioned before, we’ll be donating 100% of all the physical sales proceeds directly to The Marie Keating Foundation. Up against COVID-19 and BREXIT, I am delighted that production is complete and we can finally release our beautiful Vinyl and CDs! I am eternally grateful to everyone who has pre-ordered and we’ll continue to donate sales after the release date!”
Apella are set to release 1963 on limited edition white vinyl and CD this Friday, April 2. 100% of the proceeds from the sale the album – available to pre-order here – will go directly to The Marie Keating Foundation’s Positive Living support group, Survive and Thrive programme, BRCA awareness and support programme, and School’s Cancer Awareness Programme.
