Brí's highly anticipated debut album is due for release in October.
Hot Press is delighted to premiere 'If I Wasn't Scared', the brand new single from Irish indie pop artist Brí.
The rising star, who Hot Press (and many other esteemed publications!) called 'One To Watch' last year, is reaffirming her credentials as one of the most exciting artists around. With powerful yet fragile vocals over delicate instrumentation, listening to Brí is a journey into a melodic, lamenting world.
"'If I Wasn't Scared' assumes a man's perspective of a relationship as he struggles to balance his feelings with a 'tough guy' image, particularly among 'the boys'," Brí explains. "It is a toxic masculinity tale that strips back cold layers of indifference and questions the fear that it uncovers.'
Brí hails from Offaly, and recorded vocals for 'If I Wasn't Scared' at home, before sending it off to her bandmates Aidan Mulloy and Kaitlin Cullen-Verhauz and producer Asta Kalapa. With swelling strings and clever yet heartfelt lyrics, it sees Brí on her way to becoming one of Ireland's more compelling pop acts.
