Bringing a dance-indie-punk sound to the Irish scene, Hot Press are excited to premiere the debut release from Staff Party - a refreshing new group emerging from Cork city.
Cork-based band Staff Party have released their astounding debut single 'Solo', which Hot Press are delighted to premiere below.
'Solo', the group's first recorded track, contains elements of Arctic Monkeys, Stereophonics, and Kaiser Chiefs, but with a punkier Irish twang. Lead singer Jamie Kierans captures the enigmatic frontman energy with an incredible vocal - reminiscent of a dancier Grian Chatten of Fontaines D.C. Fronted by catchy guitar and an upbeat drum line, the track is nothing short of an earworm - you're sure to have "let's fly solo" stuck in your head for hours after your first listen.
The indie-rock/dance-punk band burst onto the scene earlier this year with a sold out show in An Spailpin Fanach, Cork. Made up of Jamie Kierans (vocals), Jake O'Driscoll (guitar), Daniel Maguire (guitar), Christopher Hockey (bass), Alexa Newall (keyboard), and Jack O'Hanlon (drums), the six-piece have already clearly defined their sound, creating a space for something new in the alternative scene.
Alongside 'Solo', the band have released a remixed version of the track, created by on of the band's guitarists, Jake O'Driscoll.
Speaking about their debut release, the band explained: "There seems to be quite a lot of sad music being released in the world today, and we want to do what we can to put a bit of joy out there. And that’s our mission statement. We’ll do everything we can to have a good time, and you’re more than welcome to join us."

For their first track - self recorded, produced and mixed - this single is incredibly strong. If this is indicative of what's to come from the band, they're certainly one to keep an eye on.
