Hot Press are ecstatic to once again share an exclusive music video premiere for The Burma, back with their most recent single ‘Holiday,’ off their forthcoming album. Check out the video below!
Irish indie rock trio The Burma are gearing up to drop their sophomore album, Crazy Dreams & Cruel Realities, due October 6. To tide us over while counting down the days, the band have shared a new music video for album single ‘Holiday,’ premiering today with Hot Press.
Named after The Burma Steps in Cobh, the Cork-based group have tuned ears to their nostalgic, gritty indie rock sound since the release of their debut album, 2022’s Sucker For Stars, which was the No. 3 best selling Independent Irish Album during its release week. Album tracks like ‘Don’t Believe Your Dreams’ and ‘Sleepers’ earned the band international recognition and radio play on RTÉ 2FM with Dan Hegarty and RTÉ Radio 1, along with spins in the UK & USA.
After premiering The Burma’s music video for ‘Don’t Believe Your Dreams’ in April of 2022, Hot Press is honoured to once again be the first to share a new music video for the Cork indie rockers’ most recent single, ‘Holiday.’
‘Holiday’ is a reposeful, sunny tune complete with gentle vocals from Tony O’Donovan and dizzying indie guitar riffs from Peter Piggott. Synth arpeggios characterise the track as a nostalgic indie anthem, pulling inspiration from the early-2000s American indie scene with a nod to The Strokes and Mac Demarco.
A hypno-groove melodic guitar riff echoes around the track, exploding into a sensational solo at the end. The lyrics speak to a blonde lover whose problems might be solved by simply running far, far away – a feeling most can, at times, idealise.

Of the single, the band shares, “It’s a more laid back, feel good summer tune and we wanted to try and capture that within the production. When we were in the middle of writing our second album, we were trying to narrow down what songs would make the final cut. ‘Holiday’ was a stand out track and an easy choice for all of us, not just as an album pick but as our main single.”
The music video for ‘Holiday’ is as intimate as the band’s creative dynamic and as lackadaisical as the song’s melody, featuring the boys recording one another by the sea on a handheld camcorder, driving along the country roads and hiking through woods with their instruments in hand. If you can’t run away from all your problems in real life, then the ‘Holiday’ music video might just do.
The Burma will launch their album Crazy Dreams & Cruel Realities, via The Burma Music Group, on October 6. The band are set to celebrate the release with a hometown gig on Saturday, October 14 at St. Lukes, Cork, tickets available now.
