The gorgeously animated video breathes life into the mythological and folklore inspirations behind the new single from one of Ireland's most promising folk singers.
We at Hot Press are delighted to to present Dani Larkin's stunningly animated video for her newest single 'Bloodthirsty (Live)'.
Recorded live at The Ulster Folk Museum as part of the release of Larkin's debut album Notes from a Maiden Warrior, ‘Bloodthirsty’ delves into the mythic imagination and uncovers the age-old narrative of the hunted and the hunter, and is a testament to those who have made needed journeys, to their courage and duty to the self. Watch the video, premiering here on Hot Press, below.
The gorgeously animated video was designed, illustrated and animated by Irish artist Andrea Shine, and breathes life into the mythological and folklore elements so central to 'Bloodthirsty'. The two met at a folklore programme, and happened grow up only two townlands over from each other, though they had never met before.
'I've wanted to work with an animator for many years since I first saw The Secret of Kells when it came out," said Larkin.

"Andrea has really brought the 'Bloodthirsty' story of hunted and hunter to life in ways that bring the song into a whole other realm. I wanted to release something before heading out on tour and just in time for Samhain and I hope you'll enjoy this snippet of Notes For A Maiden Warrior."
