Ahead of the release of their Some Distant Shore EP next month, A Different Thread have shared the music video for their new single, 'Pretty Polly'.
Pulling from both the English and American folk traditions, A Different Thread garnered widespread acclaim for their latest album, On A Whim, produced by Mandolin Orange's Jeff Crawford and released in 2018.
Now they're gearing up for their new EP, produced by Luke Cawthra (Phantom Limb), with a stunning version of 'Pretty Polly' – a traditional murder ballad that has been traced back to England from Appalachia, with memorable recordings from the likes of Bert Jansch and Peggy Seeger.
A Different Thread is a collaboration between Robert Jackson from Lichfield, England and Alicia Best from Durham, North Carolina. The pair first met while busking in Galway in 2016.
