Following the release of 'Pretty Polly' last month, folk duo A Different Thread have shared a new music video for their stunning rendition of traditional Irish ballad, 'Red Is The Rose'.
Pulling from the folk traditions of both sides of the Atlantic, A Different Thread garnered widespread acclaim for their latest album, On A Whim, produced by Mandolin Orange's Jeff Crawford and released in 2018.
Now they're gearing up for their new EP, produced by Luke Cawthra (Phantom Limb), with the release of 'Red Is The Rose' – a traditional ballad that has memorably been recorded by the likes of Liam Clancy, and Nanci Griffith with The Chieftains.
A Different Thread is a collaboration between Robert Jackson from Lichfield, England and Alicia Best from Durham, North Carolina. The pair first met while busking in Galway in 2016 – and some of the footage used in the video for 'Red Is The Rose' was shot during their adventures in Ireland, just two days after their chance meeting. The video also features footage from the duo's various tours of the country over the past four years. They were set to embark on another Irish tour in March – which was sadly cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
