Drawing inspiration from old school jams by Michael Jackson, as well as modern pop powerhouses like Beyoncé; 2021 is set to be a big year for Wendy Godfrey.
R&B/Afroswing singer-songwriter Wendy Godfrey has shared her smooth new single 'Venus', premiered below by Hot Press.
The Hot for 2021 act launched into the pop scene in July 2020 with the release of her debut single ‘How Far’. She released follow-up track ‘Bad Guy’ later that year, taking a big step towards pop stardom with the release of her debut EP, Purple Emotions.
‘Venus’ is about seeing the world through a different perspective when you’re content - especially with a person you form a special connection with. Smooth beats and silky vocals allow the track to elevate its listenership into a world of empowerment and seduction.
“‘Venus’ came about in the studio as my producer, Solow The Astronaut, was creating the beat," Godfrey tells Hot Press. "I was just freestyling the melody with a few lyrics here and there, then when the beat was done, I started writing to the beat. I came up with the second part of the chorus first, then the first verse, then the rest of the song."
From an early age, Wendy has written, recorded and performed original tracks - living her passion. This year has seen her earn a nomination for Hot Press' Most Promising Act for 2021 after being chosen as LMFM's Artist of the Month in August 2020.
