A hypnotic tune which bears sadness within its lyrics, Rêves' new single 'It's Not Me' stands out from the crowd of current pop music dominating the Irish charts.
Six-piece alternative pop band Rêves have shared an infectiously catchy new single 'It's Not Me', which Hot Press are delighted to premiere ahead of its release tomorrow (May 7).
The Dublin-based outfit was formed in 2019 to make records beyond the confines of genre, and have since released tracks 'Short Dress' and 'Depths&Between'.
The band's new single 'It's Not Me' was produced and recorded with Daniel de Burca in Windmill Lane Studios, featuring Jake Curran and creative input from Conor O'Donoghue of Wild Youth in the early stages.
"The song was written during the first lockdown in May 2020," Rêves tell Hot Press of 'It's Not Me'.
"We were very fortunate to have Daniel de Burca produce the record alongside our lead singer, Adam Fenelon. It was an amazing experience to have so much free time during lockdown to really think about what we wanted create and say. We think this single really show’s what our band is all about. We want our music to make people feel like they're not alone and that someone out there is going through all the same emotions."

A break-up banger at its core, the explosive chorus has feel-good elements paralleling with deeply poignant words.
"The song itself is about heartbreak and losing someone you once loved, but being in complete denial of your own emotions," Rêves tell me. "I think the line 'I don’t go outside, because I’m alright on my own' sums it up perfectly. The song is about putting on that brave face after a break up whilst still feeling desperation."
2021/22 is set to be an extremely busy period for the group, who plan on releasing all of their written material from the past year in lockdown.
"We are currently back working with Daniel de Burca on our next single, which is due for release in July. We can’t wait to get back to gigs and see all our friends again and thank them for all their support and beautiful messages over the past year," Rêves add.
"We hope this song makes someone smile or just feel a little better as heartbreak like all things doesn’t last forever."
