Take a look at the new video from Elina Filice below.
Fresh from her appearance on the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions' Y&E Series, Elina Filice has returned with a stunning new video for her latest single, 'Thinking of You'.
Growing up between Singapore and Toronto, before relocating to Dublin to complete two diplomas at BIMM and immerse herself in the city's thriving music scene, Elina established herself as one of the most compellingly original talents in the country with the release of 'Thinking Of You' earlier this summer. The track has already clocked up nearly 230,000 streams on Spotify.
The video for 'Thinking Of You', directed by Toronto-based filmmaker Phil Kim, features several iconic locations in Toronto – following Elina on an adventure that stops off at Kensington Market, the Island Ferry and Toronto Island.
“The song is verbose, rambling, and nostalgic, with thoughts and memories swirling and haunting," Elina explains. "I wanted to capture that with the scenes cutting forward and back in time. I want viewers to wonder if the scenes with Ally are happening in real time or if they’re memories and flashbacks, and the journey is really happening alone.”
The video also sees Elina making an effort to "normalise queerness" onscreen.

"The video is pretty gay," she says. "It’s a little nerve-wracking to be this gay on camera, but... this is my life, this is my friends’ lives. Queer visibility is important, and as a creator, honest content like this is my way of fighting to normalise queerness and queer love. I think it’s important to recognise that feeling safe enough to be openly out, let alone shooting a music video like this, isn't possible for a lot of queer people around the world.
“Queerness, especially between women, is usually blatantly oversexualised, so I wanted the scenes between myself and Ally [Cantalini] to be intimate and loving, and not at all sexual. There’s enough of that on the internet.”
