Elephant in the Room is an electronic/soul/pop duo comprised of Ireland natives Marty Mullally and Keenan Copas.
US-based Irish pairing Marty Mullally and Keenan Copas are BIMM Dublin songwriting graduates, who moved to New York to pursue their musical endeavours. Since moving to New York, we pair have launched their electro-pop/soul venture Elephant in the Room.
Their first release, 'Do You See Me Now', featured lush vocals and smooth production. The lyrics described a tumultuous friends-with-benefits relationship. “It’s your classic ‘hard-to-get’ scenario between two people who know they’re right for each other but straddle the line of commitment. We’ve all been there… Right?,” the band said of their debut. 'Movie Stars' came next, full of pop prowess and mature beats.
Third offering 'Hollywood Hills' steps it up a notch, focusing on the difficulties of finding their sound in a major city full of aspiring artists - premiered below by Hot Press.
The electronic/soul/pop act has worked with a number of artists as ghostwriters and producers, most notably Josh Gray. They co-wrote and produced his track 'Come Home', which reached over 370,000 streams on Spotify.
'Hollywood Hills' is a personal account of how Elephant in the Room struggled with expectation versus reality, moving from Ireland to New York. The duo have been tenaciously honing their craft in the midst of all the challenges New York has thrown at them. The lyrics capture this using heartfelt honesty and deftly crafted anecdotes: “The apple don’t fall too far from the city now”.
