The Dooradoyle rapper makes his long awaited return. Watch his self-directed video for 'Daily Thoughts' below.
Eighteen-year-old Limerick rapper Datqidexcel has dropped his brand-new single ‘Daily Thoughts’.
After impressing with his debut single ‘Time Will Tell’ in 2021, ‘Daily Thoughts’ sees the young star make his overdue return - as he discusses his journey through maturity, poetically portraying his life experiences with trademark profundity and passion.
Accompanying the track is an originatively contrasting music video directed by the artist himself. The film sees Datqidexcel shift back and forth between a bespoke, illuminatingly blue room to the dreary monochrome city streets. Watch the video below.
“It apprises the ambitions and goals I aspire to reach before I can truly say I’ve made it,” said the young rapper. “The aim behind this song is to show people I’m not the same person I was when I made ‘Time Will Tell’, my debut single.

“I don’t care for what’s trending anymore. From now onwards when I make music, I want it to be on my terms.”
‘Daily Thoughts’ was produced by Jaden JDN Fitzgerald and Luke Culhane - the trio are said to have “bounced off each other in terms of energy and ideas for the song”.
Born in Raheen, Limerick City, Datqidexcel spent his formative years in Dooradoyle, constantly surrounded by his brothers playing music.
His staunchest supporter since day one, it was Excel’s mother who encouraged the teenager to pursue his dream after noticing how focused he became while rapping - thus leading him into the rabbit hole of hip-hop, its history, and its undeniable cultrual impact.
