Former Hot Sprockets frontman Wayne Soper delivers psychedelic bedroom pop for the masses on his latest single.
Midnight Wayne has returned with an uptempo anthem for fans of Tame Impala, Connan Mockasin and Prince.
Former Hot Sprockets frontman Wayne Soper is no stranger to the Irish music scene, having cut his teeth in one of the most well loved live bands of their time on our festival circuits.
Since starting out 18 years ago, Dublin five-piece The Hot Sprockets made an incredible contribution to Ireland's music scene with three studio albums and a host of live performances. Their latest album, Dream Mover, was released in April 2018 to rave reviews.
Midnight Wayne's first single, 'Someone Like You', was released in March 2019, and explored his new beginnings against a backdrop of psychedelic pop. Continuing his journey with 'Transcend' later that year, the track dealt directly with his experiences of going on anti-depressants.
Now focusing on his solo artist project 'Midnight Wayne', Soper has kickstarted an exciting, genre-bending 2021 with 'It's Alright Hold Tight'.

The track is a moving, home-produced number lamenting lockdown life and anticipating the ecstatic grooves and hopefulness of returning normality.
Midnight Wayne's optimistic track features echoes of '80s nostalgia and melodic synths, making sure to include band mate and long-time collaborator Joe “Jose Salsa” Lynch on bass.
Additional production and mixing was carried out by the talented Alex Borwick (Ellie Goulding, Niamh Regan, MOXIE).
“The song is inspired by life in the “new normal” and the toll this past year has taken on everyone. The chorus “its alright, hold on tight” encourages to hang in there and that we’ll get through these numerous lockdowns and be together again," Soper said of his new release.
"I also wanted it to sound like something from a cheesy ;80s movie, as that era captures a real optimism and wholesomeness that people could do with right now”.
Following years of touring, the whimsical songwriter finally has time to experiment, have fun and dig deep into lots of unexplored ideas.
Acting as the perfect opener to a world of bended sounds and beats; Midnight Wayne’s vision of creative musical freedom has now become a reality.
