Better known as the vocal powerhouse and guitarist of Irish punk duo Vulpynes, Molly Vulpyne releases her first solo single today, ‘Dead In The Water,’ delivering an infectious sound with bite.
The single is released alongside a formidable, grungy music video shot by Dave Clifford, premiering now exclusively on Hot Press – check it out below!
Vulpyne’s debut single is pulled from the musician’s forthcoming EP Amortise, scheduled for release on FOAD Musik in association with the esteemed Welsh punk label, Scene Report Records in February 2024.

Today’s single release follows the singer’s recent collaborations with avant-garde punk artist Meryl Streek, who plays drums on the track alongside Peter Jones (Paranoid Visions) on second guitar and Tony Carberry (The Lee Harveys) expertly wielding the bass.
The track opens with a gritty intro, Vulpyne’s growling vocals pushing along the murky grunge instrumentals. Shimmering tambourine on the chorus adds a playful, alive element to the fiery soundscape, while raw, searingly honest lyricism is bolstered by incessant drums and fast guitars.
“Who is this person I see / I hate this version of me,” Vulpyne demands throughout the hook, “I am allergic to me.” Capturing the essence of her evolution since embarking on her solo project, Vulpyne’s new single offers a glimpse into the exciting chapter ahead, marking a deliberate shift towards melody over raw power and revealing a new side to her musical prowess.
Catch Molly Vulpyne celebrating her inaugural solo journey at her album launch gig in Whelan’s Upstairs on February 24, 2024 – tickets available starting today at the link here.
Amortise, due in February of next year, is available for pre-order now.
