This month the Abbey Theatre presents the premiere of 'What Put the Blood' by Frances Poet.
Frances is an award-winning playwright and dramaturg. Her most recent play, 'Adam', received five star reviews and a Fringe First award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival during the summer.
'What Put the Blood' is a reworking of Jean Racine’s 'Andromaque', an epic tale of savage courtship that questions the animal nature of human passion.
Fresh from sell-out success of Jimmy’s Hall and the current run of 'Ulysses' on the Abbey Stage, Director of the Abbey Theatre Graham McLaren designs and directs.
Lucianne McEvoy returns to the Abbey Theatre to play ‘Hermione’, with Julie Rodgers making her Abbey debut as ‘Andromaque’.
Graham said, "I am thrilled to introduce one of the most exciting new voices of contemporary theatre, Frances Poet to Irish audiences."
