Derry musician Paul Casey shares new single with Hotpress ahead of its digital release. Watch the 50s inspired video below.
Derry producer and songwriter Paul Casey shows off his guitar expertise in new single 'Because I Love You.'
Joined by longtime collaborator and drummer Liam Bradley, the song was inspired by the '50s, Casey said. The track was written after a friend lent him a Novo Guitar– a Nashville brand known for their high quality designs and builds. "As soon as I started playing, it took me to that 50’s twang!”, said the musician. By the end of the day, Casey had finished the song, recording it in his own Cable Junction Studio.
The video, which was shot at the Derry St. Patrick's Fair, seeks to encapsulate the energy of a "Stephen King-esque movie set." The clip portrays Casey–who films and directs all of his own videos–in front of the funfair at dusk, the lights of the carnival and setting sun cascading around him. The atmosphere is resoundingly timeless and ostensibly American, capturing the energy of a lost Midwestern town nestled in time.
'Because I Love You,' is Casey's most recent single release, following the drop of 'Green Arrows' earlier this month. Both were recorded in the artist's own studio, where he's been busy preparing his forthcoming record The Long Road Back.
There, he's also been working on We Are Aerials' new album, along with projects with The Carrellines and trad musician Gino Lupari.

Casey is also the guitarist of musical duo Amberlight and will be performing with vocalist Lauren Doherty April 21st at the Bishop's Gate Hotel in Derry.
