'Wasting Time' is a cathartic anthem about the clarity that comes along with hindsight.
Ahead of a Whelan's headline gig on April 24 and a debut EP on the way, Pauric O'Meara has treated us with the moving single 'Wasting Time'.
'Wasting Time', which will be featured on his upcoming EP Looking Forward To Hindsight, showcases O'Meara's vocal power as he sings of hindsight and heartbreak. Insightful lyrics showcase his vulnerability as he looks back at the final stage of a relationship with a fresh pair of eyes, finally finding peace and happiness throughout the trying time. It begins with sombre, minimal instrumentation before exploding into a strong and upbeat anthem, mimicking the emotional growth he sings of.
O'Mera said, "'Wasting Time' is the second stage of this relationship with hindsight. The heartbreak and pain is still very visible through the lyrics, but the up-tempo groove that the music provides highlights how through the toughest times, we can still find happiness and focus on enjoying life to the full."
Debut EP Looking Forward To Hindsight centres on similar themes, reflecting on negative relationships and the emotional growth that comes along with time and distance. "If you are going to look back, make sure that whatever you take from the past is only used to ensure a happier and brighter future," O'Meara said of the EP's story.
