Cuban-Irish musician Qbanaa released her new heartfelt single ‘Demons In The Liffey’, accompanied by an emotional music video.
The track comes ahead of her upcoming six track EP Elisa, set for release in the coming months.
Written during her time in London, the song captures the emotional turbulence of running from home and navigating the lonely challenges of self-discovery with the South East London jazz jam scene as a backdrop.
With soft guitar arpeggios and sitar sounds, as well as Qbanaa’s signature intimate vocal style, ‘Demons In The Liffey’ is a tender love song exploring love, loss, and the quest for self-discovery - reflecting the artist's struggle to reconcile the need for independence with the longing for a utopia with a nurturing relationship many daughters share with their mothers.
The title symbolizes the haunting memories of trauma that surface during conversations with her mother, yet also conveys a deep yearning for safety and the promise to repair the fractured relationship.

Directed by Qbanaa and shot by Babygirl Films, the accompanying video increases the emotion of the song by the use of footage of the singer as a young child, interacting with her mother.
The singer has supported high-profile artists like Liv.e, Mahalia, recently Ruby Waters on her European tour, and has graced major festivals such as Electric Picnic, All Together Now, Cork Jazz, Forbidden Fruit, Other Voices and Body & Soul.
Qbanaa will play Cork Guinness Jazz Festival supporting Maya Delilah on October 25. More information are available here.
