Emerging this year with his debut single, Kerry native and alt-folk artist Silver Branch released his second single this month, ‘Even Out,’ now accompanied by a music video. Check it out below!
Kerry-raised, Dublin-based singer-songwriter debuted his solo project Silver Branch earlier this year to immediate acclaim. The moniker for Kerry-raised, Dublin-based singer-songwriter Kieran Mulvihill, Silver Branch returns with his sophomore single, ‘Even Out’ and a new music video, out today.
His debut single ‘Big Decisions’ shone a much-deserved spotlight on the storytelling singer. His moniker ‘Silver Branch’ is taken from the writings of philosopher John Moriarty, meaning ‘Other World,’ and Mulvihill’s music exists in such a dimension.
Silver Branch writes songs from the perspective of an old heart, with lyrics that question our experiences, ties to the past and the physical bodies we exist within. He has garnered the praise of Irish artists the likes of Junior Brother and David Keenan, with the latter describing him as a "poet of the storytelling tradition.”
Set to release his debut album soon, ‘Even Out’ is another undeniably addictive alt-folk track that gives listeners a deeper look into the important mind of Silver Branch.
Marked with his sweet Irish-tinged vocals, the song is a heart-thumping exploration that slowly unravels – as we all do – exploring how it feels to sleepwalk through the struggles of life, unable to stop time passing, and “breaking down.” Electric guitar winds around his voice, erupting when words and building a wall of sound when they do. The bridge builds on this sonic force to a breaking point, before ending on an unfinished, short note.
