Watch the video for 'Ballytransnational' (Voiced by Da and Esther) below
The Telefís video trilogy continues – with a new video for 'Ballytransnational' (Voiced by Da and Esther) premiering below.
Following the release of their debut album, a hAon, earlier this month, Telefís – made up of Cathal Coughlan (Microdisney, Fatima Mansions) and renowned producer Jacknife Lee – recently returned with the Archbishop Beardmouth At The ChemOlympics EP.
The video trilogy is taken from the EP, featuring reimagined versions of tracks that originally featured on a hAon, with spoken word contributions from family and friends.
Each video was made by Jacknife Lee, using vintage footage from the RTÉ Archives.
"My dad and his partner Esther tackled ‘Ballytransnational'," he tells Hot Press. "They were an obvious choice because a) he’s my dad and b) I love his voice. His take on the song is like an old version of the new 'new wave' of bands like Fontaines D.C. et al. He’s the original.
"With Telefís, videos Cathal and I are always trying to poke at the veracity of our memories and our narrative," he continues. "The images in the video look bleak but the kids are racing around unaware of the difficulties the poverty brings."
