Watch the video premiere for 'All Around The Town' – believed to be the last song recorded by the Aslan star – below.
Over a decade after the release of their original version of 'All Around The Town', The Rattling Kind are revisiting their beloved track with a brand new release. We're proud to premiere the video for their updated version of the single, featuring special guest vocalists Damien Dempsey, and late Christy Dignam.
'All Around The Town' – which previously featured on the RTÉ series Love/Hate – proved a major hit for the Dublin band, with its original music video, posted back in 2012, having clocked up over 2.2 million views on YouTube, and a further 1.3 million streams on Spotify.
For the re-release of the track, The Rattling Kind's lead singer Eddie Sherlock approached Damien Dempsey and Christy Dignam to contribute guest vocals – which were recorded in June 2022. It's now believed to be the last song Christy recorded before his death in June of this year.
The track takes a strong stance against gang violence, while also addressing the stark realities faced by marginalised communities in Ireland. Eddie was moved to write the song when a young man he knew, Warren O'Connor, was murdered in a knife attack.

"He was the first person I ever knew to be murdered, and it sent a shockwave through the area," Eddie recalls. "Gangland crime hadn’t really taken off at that point, whereas now it’s become somewhat of an epidemic. I would like to think this song can send out some sort of a hopeful message to the youth of today not to fall down the wrong path as it’s something I’ve seen a lot of over the years."
Shot in Dublin’s Chocolate Factory, and on the streets of the city at dusk, the video features performances by The Rattling Kind and Damien, interspersed with in-studio footage of the late Aslan legend.
Back in June, in a tribute to Christy shared on social media, Damien referenced the recording of the track.
"I had the good fortune of recording again with Christy last year on a song by Eddie Sherlock and The Rattling Kind, a brilliant song about the epidemic of cocaine and violence that's gripped Dublin and Ireland, called 'All Around The Town'," he wrote. "Christy was pretty sick at the time but full of beans and great stories and slagging, like I said, a warrior, and he kills it on the vocals.
"I'm hearing it was the last recording he made..." he added. "If so, what a great privilege for The Rattling Kind and myself."
The Rattling Kind are made up of Dublin-born singer-songwriter, guitarist and percussionist Eddie Sherlock, as well as Domo Dixon (lead guitar, keyboards), Khalile Vial (drums) and Frankie O’Mahony (bass).
