Listen to the Dublin singer-songwriter's new track below.
Following the release of 'Night Moves' earlier this year, Tommy Cullen is back with a powerful new single, 'Violet Rainbow'.
In a departure from the stripped back approach of his previous release, 'Violet Rainbow' finds the Dublin singer-songwriter expanding his musical horizons – embracing a darker, alternative sound, while centring the track around around an irresistible groove. As a radio-ready summer anthem, it positions Cullen on the verge of a major breakthrough.
Like most of his recent output – featuring songs that have touched on everything from scary sharks to imaginary break-ups – 'Violet Rainbow' was recorded during lockdown, which Cullen spent living in a tiny house on top of a river.
The track has its origins in a voice memo captured several years ago in a rented bus, while he was travelling in the French Alps. The fully formed version now explores the "universal desire to shine" as well as the "many shades of violet that make up our lives."

Cullen, the former frontman with Dublin alt-rock band The False And The Fair, has been steadily growing an online following over the past year – posting #NewMusicDaily on his Instagram, in addition to his official releases.
'Violet Rainbow' was mixed by Marcus Jay, who also contributed additional production and drum machine programming, and mastered by Ivan Jackman at Hellfire Studios. Listen below:
