Coinciding with the release of their highly anticipated new album, Silences, today, We Are Aerials have shared a brand new music video for their single, 'Robbing Peter' – premiering below.
The Derry act are joined by Liam Bradley (drums) and Paul Casey (bass/electric guitar/keys) on the track – with Paul also contributing on production duties.
"One of the themes on our new album, Silences, is getting out into nature to find peace, only to see that nature itself is never at peace," remark We Are Aerials. "I mean, the animals literally eat each other alive. And then the weather…
"I wrote this on Christmas Day after a walk along the shore path in Moville, County Donegal. Bhí sé gaofar that day, lads! Bloody freezing too. And the whole time, I kept thinking I’d forgotten to pay Paul Casey for the last studio session. That’s why the song is called 'Robbing Peter'; it’s how you pay Paul."
We Are Aerials go on to discuss how they were drawn to "the drama of the heavy guitars and strings as a big finish" on closing track 'Robbing Peter' – which "sort of feels like a wee nod to Whipping Boy."

"For the video (also shot by Paul) we continue the theme we set with our last single, 'Dig': showing Ireland off in all its rugged beauty," they resume. "The shoot was a bit of an ordeal. Paul had just bought a drone, and this was its maiden excursion. Bhí sé gaofar that day too, and the damn thing blew away! It needed to do some kind of emergency landing (I didn’t even know drones could do that). It ended up just a few metres from the water so we’re lucky to have any footage at all. The drone’s independent streak earned it the moniker, Rogue One. I’m told that’s a Star Wars reference."
Silences is out now at weareaerials.bandcamp.com and minm.co
