President Michael D Higgins is expected to meet the family of Dolores O’Riordan ahead of the rock star’s removal service in Ballyneety, Co Limerick this evening.
A spokesperson for the President confirmed to the media that Michael D. Higgins will meet the family privately. Speaking with the RTE, President Higgins spoke about the importance of paying tribute to Dolores, as well as the importance of meeting her family.
President Higgins also recalled meeting Dolores O'Riordan while working as Minister for Arts & Culture in 1993, as well as his memories of The Cranberries winning an early Hot Press Award.

Meanwhile, a major traffic management plan is being prepared around the village of Ballyneety village ahead of the removal service.
Yesterday, thousands of people attended a public reposing of the the mother of three, at St Joseph’s Church in Limerick city.

Hundreds of mourners are expected to attend the singer's removal service in Ballyneety from 4pm-8pm.
The Official Garda Facebook page posted this message: "The removal service and funeral of Dolores O’Riordan, formerly of the Cranberries will repose at Cross’s Funeral Home, Ballyneety, Co. Limerick on Monday, 22nd. January 2018 from 4pm to 8pm. A large crowd is expected to attend and a traffic management plan will come to effect from 2pm today, Monday, 22nd. January 2018.
"Motorists are advised to expect long delays on the R512 in the vicinity of Ballyneety Village and should use an alternative route if possible. Outbound traffic on the R512 from Limerick City will be diverted onto the N24 Tipperary Road at The Four Elms Bar. Inbound traffic from Kilmallock and Bruff to Limerick City will be diverted to the R511 Fedamore Road at The Hunting Lodge Bar. All diversions will be signposted."
Ms O’Riordan’s remains will be brought from the funeral home to St Ailbe’s Church, Ballybricken at, 8pm for the singer's funeral mass tomorrow at 11.30am.
