Prince's estate filed a wrongful death lawsuit in 2018, against several defendants.
Claims surrounding Prince's alleged wrongful death have been dismissed. The legendary pop singer died at age 57 of an accidental fentanyl overdose, leaving no will. His estate case is ongoing.
A report by the Associated Press details that claims against Walgreens, Dr. Michael Schulenberg, and Trinity Medical Center – the hospital where Prince was treated for an opioid overdose a week before his death – have all been gradually dismissed since the filing of the suit in 2018.

The claims against Dr. Schulenberg were dismissed permanently in November, while the Walgreens claims were dismissed as early as August. Henry Blair, a professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, said the language in the dismissal — with agreement by defendants and plaintiffs — leaves him “99.99% sure those are settlements.”
