The American rapper dropped his long-awaited fifth studio album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers earlier this year to critical acclaim.
According to producer Sounwave, rapper Kendrick Lamar is already beginning work on his sixth studio album.
The Compton born rapper released his epic 18-track fifth album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers came out in May of this year. This album broke the five-year wait from 2017's Pulitzer winning DAMN and marked the rapper’s final LP and end of contract with longtime label Top Dawg Entertainment.
Sounwave, who has worked consistently with the rapper across his career, revealed that work on the rapper's sixth album began as soon as his latest drop was released.
Speaking to Complex recently, the producer said: "We’re starting on the next one now. That’s never going to change, all the way from the Kendrick Lamar EP. The next day, we started on Section.80. It’s just the ideas never stopped."
In order to keep the creativity going, the producer is following Lamar on his current US tour, adding that the pair are like "kids in a candy shop” when working on new music together.
Lamar recently announced the Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers world tour, with two dates in the 3Arena, Dublin on sale now.

The Compton rapper will be joined on The Big Steppers Tour by his collaborator and cousin, Baby Keem, as well as Tanna Leone, another artist signed to Kendrick and Dave Free's pgLang record label.
Having recently become a highlight of Glastonbury 2022, the rapper most certainly puts on a dramatic and theatrical show. Ending his set with the chanted refrain of "they judge you, they judged Christ, godspeed for women’s rights" as a response to Roe v. Wade, while wearing a Tiffany and Co. crown of thorns. The real time audience took up the chant in an electric finale that saw blood drip down his face.
We hope to see an immersive, controversial performance like this in November, when Lamar hits Dublin.
