Good news house fans! One of the country’s most eclectic duos are back, with a stonking Prince cover and more....
Hystereo are back in the studio working on new material. Conor Murphy and Jack Byrne Murphy are the talented producers that brought you the hit Corporate Crimewave. It was hailed in 2005 as ‘album of the year’ by DJ Magazine. The lads have a huge following among punters and musicians. They’ve done remixes for artists such as Digitalism, Teenage Bad Girl, Trash Talk, Celtic Twins, us Deadbots, The Lowbrows. They’ve also recorded a cover of the Prince classic, ‘Erotic City’, on which Conor made his vocal debut. It was so good Prince gave his seal of approval! Listen to ‘Choral Twist’ and ‘State Of Grace’ here: tiny.cc/w5eeew.
In Cork, French house duo Justice play their long-awaited live show at the Marquee June 7. They are fresh from the success of their last album Audio, Video, Disco. Expect a repeat of their rocking performance at Phoenix Park, Dublin, 2007.
In Belfast, singer Grainne Holland’s as Gaeilge track ‘Báta an tSíl’ has received a touch of cool from producer Figure Of 8. His remix, released as a freebie, has gone down well. A follow up EP is in the works, along with a gig at Culture Tech in Derry in August. Check out culturetech.co.
Elsewhere, Vision Collective Recordings are prepping their next offering, Mick Verma’s Deep Visions EP. It includes four deep house tracks and an acid techno mix from QuestionmarQ. Later in the year, the label plans further releases from John Collins and Masky. It will also celebrate its first birthday with a special vinyl one-off, with tracks from their roster of artists! Following the success of his edit for the 9G Records favourite Crossfaders, his own Rapier EP has now been lined up with the San Francisco label. Included are mixes by Paul Jackson, Deadbots and the aforementioned Figure Of 8! Catch Sirkus Sirkuz at Kelly’s Galway on June 14. Check tiny.cc/b7eeew.
In Dublin, it’s happy second birthday to Mother, one of Dublin’s most amazing gay club nights. It happens Saturdays at Copper Alley Exchange St. The night, put together by hard working DJs Kelly–Anne Byrne, Phil Boyle, promoter Cormac Cashman and the GCN crew, has experienced sweat-dripping-off-the-ceiling evenings with Optimo, Shit Robot JD Samson and Eat Me Drink Me. Birthday celebrations kick off on June 9! See tiny.cc/92eeew.
